JPCC Pool Closure Update

We also want to provide more information and background on the decision to close the JPCC pool that we mentioned in an earlier message. As part of our budget reductions, we plan to sunset this pool in August 2026. Swim lessons, summer camps, and pool rentals will still be available and open to the community in June and July.

This was not an easy decision. The JPCC pool has been a place where families learn to swim, spend time together, and connect with others. We understand how much this space means.

While the cost to run the pool has been higher than the money it brings in, that was not the only reason for proposing this closure. Over time, we have found several major maintenance issues. Even after working with contractors and trying repairs, some problems remain.

We have learned that fixing these issues would likely require digging up and rebuilding the pool. With our current budget challenges, this is not something we can take on.

Because pool hours had already been reduced, we believe this is the most responsible step at this time.

We are working to move as many programs as possible to the Propstra pool. We will share updated schedules and summer offerings for both pools as soon as they are ready.
